"Octara" is an exceptional example of Scandinavian craftsmanship in the semi-displacement cruising motor yacht category. The Familia 27 model is renowned for its versatility, offering a perfect balance of compact handling and spacious comfort, making it an ideal all-rounder for long-range cruising, or shorter local trips and nights aboard. At 27 feet, "Octara" is easily manageable yet impressively roomy, standing out from other vessels in her class.

The central helm, seating area, galley, and large table can be fully enclosed for protection from the elements. On my visit, with clear skies and sunshine, the roof sections slid back easily and the cockpit tent was lowered, creating one of the most enjoyable spaces I’ve experienced aboard a vessel of this type.

The 150hp VOLVO TAMD31P delivers performance and efficiency, giving cruising speeds of 16 knots, with the ability to achieve speeds in excess of 20 knots. Over the years, we have encountered several Familia 27 models, "Octara" stands out, as one the cleanest and best-presented examples we’ve seen, a testament to the care and attention she has received from her current owner.

The owner, a seasoned boater with expertise as a professional delivery skipper and marine engineer, has brought a broad skillset to the upkeep of "Octara" , ensuring she has been maintained to an exceptionally high standard over the years. This level of care is reflected in the recent upgrades and meticulous service history, including a full engine service less then 15 running hours ago, alongside the installation of new hybrid batteries the same year.

Key recent enhancements include a new (2022) Quick anchor winch with remote, a new Bruce 7.5K anchor with over 100 metres of chain and two fully refurbished windscreen wiper and motor units. Additionally, a new exterior hood/cover was installed in September 2023, featuring a new stainless frame, internal covers, and external screen and roof covers, further enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Octara offers 5-berth accommodation, making her ideal for extended cruising. The layout includes a spacious wheelhouse that comfortably seats 4-5 at the dining table, along with a cozy fore cabin and heads with electric flush toilet and hot shower. The aft cabin is fitted with a large fixed double bed, complete with a sunbed above, while the galley is designed for efficiency and ease of use.

Her interior is bright and well-ventilated, with two large opening roof sections and side windows in the wheelhouse, creating a light and airy atmosphere throughout. For a vessel of her size, "Octara" surpasses expectations in terms of space, comfort, and functionality, making her an outstanding choice for discerning cruisers- not one to miss!
